Metro Trains Sydney (MTS) is the private operator and maintainer of the M1 Northwest and Bankstown Line, Australia’s first and only fully accessible, driverless train service. With state-of-the-art trains and cutting-edge technology, we are committed to customer excellence through the delivery of safe, seamless, reliable services. Providing a world-class commuter experience is our focus.

MTS is a joint venture of MTR Corporation (principal shareholder) John Holland and UGL Rail.

In May 2019 MTS began operations of the Northwest Line.

On 19 August 2024 the City expansion opened providing direct, fast and reliable metro services into the heart of Sydney’s CBD introducing six new stations - Crows Nest, Victoria Cross, Barangaroo, Martin Place, Gadigal and Waterloo and new platforms at Sydenham and Central station–connecting people from Tallawong to Chatswood and Sydenham in less than an hour.

With global expertise and an award-winning team, we manage 51.5km of track and 21 stations followed by a further expansion into southwest Sydney in 2025.
