Rail operations of the Sydney Metro Northwest (SMNW) in Sydney is run by Metro Trains Sydney Pty. Limited, a joint venture of MTR Corporation (60% shareholding), Australia’s John Holland Group (20%) and UGL Rail (20%), a division of United Group Limited.

The 36-km metro line between Tallawong and Chatswood is the country’s first fully automated (driverless) rail service opened for service on May 26, 2019. The service enjoys a 96% customer satisfaction rating.
